«Cosiness and hospitality in a typical Grisons atmosphere»
It is an unforgettable experience to enjoy a glass of wine in the cosy pine panelled «Ochsen» wine bar. Built in 1926, the bar, which in winter is warmed by the vine root fired traditional blue tiled stove, just invites you to stay. In summer enjoy the views from the sunny balcony of the nearby mountains over Malans' rooftop scenery.
Whilst our menu is not extensive, we attach great importance to spoiling our guests with the region's best products. So you will find a wholesome Bündner soup or a cold platter with air-dried meat specialities and cheeses to compliment our large selection of wines.

Our Vinotheque, where top wines and sought-after rarities are laid out to choose from, is a paradise for wine connoisseurs.
There is no wine list to page through at the «Ochsen», instead there is one that you can walk through and feast your eyes on. Our guests can choose their favourite wine in the Vinotheque, where, apart from numerous vintage wines we have grown ourselves, they can find an extensive choice of selected Bordeaux and Burgundy wines. Apart from the big names, such as Mouton-Rothschild, Lafite-Rothschild, Haut Brion, Cheval Blanc or Petrus, several selected, less well-known wines are also waiting to be discovered.
As we know personally the producers of most of the wines we sell, we can tell a story about each of these wines. Our numerous wine contacts and friendships are important to us and help us to stay at the forefront of the wine scene.
MALANS - HISTORY
Malans and wine have been inseparable for over 1,000 years. The historical village centre and lush green vineyards characterise the landscape of one of Switzerland's most beautiful wine regions.
Malans, the most southern village in the Bündner Herrschaft has the oldest vineyard in the region. Wine, fruit and vegetables were cultivated over 1,000 years ago in this excellent climate. The majestic patrician houses are witnesses to these trading times. Bishops and canons received their communion wines from the warmest locations in Malans, such as the well-known Completer hill. This wine was drunk during the Last Supper prayer (the Complete), which is how this old autochthonous type got its name. The Completer, which is also called the «vine of Malans», has - after it had almost become extinct - re-established itself again as a rarity. The Bündner Herrschaft with its historical village, Malans, is not only a paradise for wine connoisseurs and gourmets, but has also become an insider tip for cyclists and hikers. Only small quantities of wine are cultivated in the Grisons canton with its world-famous skiing regions, such as Klosters, Davos, Arosa and St. Moritz, most of which is drunk in the region.
